Avanzata, LLC started as David Blum's Information Technology (IT) consulting practice and has expanded to include Cutting Edge Sharpening and BaccoOnline David Blum has also formed a strategic alliance with Gianluca Soffredini and his Italian software company CodeGen Software.

David Blum, after starting his career as a civil engineer designing highways and bridges in the New York area, he changes course, traded in his drawing board for a computer and started his Information Technology career as a real-time programmer with the Lockheed Missiles and Space Company building radar tracking software during the Viet Nam era.  He moved onto programming positions with Control Data Corporation, Automatic Electric Laboratories, Benton Schneider and Associates before founding Cynosure, Inc. in 1978.  Cynosure developed Health Management software for CNA Insurance, Association Management Software for the Bank Administration Institute (BAI), Subscription fulfillment/tracking for Neodata Services and Focus on the Family.  Cynosure was sold and David focused on IT organization management consulting with Lachman Associates (UNIX software development), O'Connor Partners (financial services trading), and Educational Publishing (textbook publishing).  After assisting BAI to reorganize it’s IT services organization and systems, David was retained as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO).  He retired from BAI
